Appeal for Mia

Any unwanted Christmas presents?  Going on a post-Christmas diet and need relieving of chocolates and biscuits??
We are committed to giving Mia the best nutrition and veterinary care - but obviously this comes at a cost.  We will be holding fundraising events such as raffles and tombolas.  Your unwanted gifts could really help.  Any toiletries, gift sets, chocolates/alcohol (unopened of course!) will be very gratefully received and put to very good use.
Please contact one of us to arrange local collection/delivery

Obviously any monetary donations would also be appreciated!!

Please contact Sue, Pip or Kathy if you can help (contact details found on the 'contact us' page).

Thank you

Pets at Home - Dewsbury

Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue would like to thank Pets at Home in Dewsbury for providing Mia with a lovely warm coat and a goodie bag.  Their generosity is hugely appreciated

Poor Mia

This is Mia - she is a lurcher - we picked her up 23/12/11.

Obviously nobody was ever going to go to the pound and claim Mia and she would have been put to sleep the day we got her.  (Another rescue has taken the other one)

She is a third of the body weight she should be and is covered in dog bites and infected sores and has possibly been used as dog fighting bait.

Mia is now safely in the hands of Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue and will get all the nutrition and veterinary care that she needs.   TLC is being provided in abundance by our brilliant fosterers Harry and Kath who stepped in at very short notice.

Poor Melvin

Poor Melvin

This week the Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue received the sad news that Melvin the 2 year old Staffie x Ridgeback has passed away.

For the past two months Melvin was lucky enough to be fostered in a loving home.

Unfortunately, Melvin, who had won the hearts of all who met him, was stabbed during an incident and had to be put to sleep because of his injuries.
This incident was immediately reported to the police and RSPCA. The investigation is ongoing and we will keep you all informed.

We at YRDR are heartbroken. Our thoughts are with his fosterers, Jay and her family who are devastated.
