Last month my mother, who is 89 years old, lost her elderly chihuahua to old age/ natural causes. She was bereft and said she could never have another dog. However we in the family felt that for her own wellbeing she should rehome an elderly dog. Mother came around to this view, but was quite specific that she wanted another elderly female chihuahua. I thought the chances were slim - and told my mother so. However through a mutual acquaintance who knew of the work of Yorkshire Rose, my mother had a dog - to her specifications - within a fortnight. The two ladies I dealt with, Sue and Brenda, could not have been more helpful.

I owe them a big thankyou.

Regards, Paul

After loosing my dog last august I never believed that I would get another dog, but the house seemed so empty without the sound of little paws around the place my partner and I decided to look around for another we came upon Yorkshire Rose by chance and spotted 2 dogs that were wanting re-homing one though had already been saved for someone else so we phoned and asked for details on Scooby as the picture wasn’t very good but he had a cute face. A week later he came for a visit with Kath and Ruth who had been fostering him when he arrived I told June to let him off so he could explore on his own. Off he went running around bouncing up on the furniture looking at my partners face I really believed he had blown it and was to bouncy for my partner as she had been so used to my other dog who was very quiet compared to this bundle of madness. After a while he settled down and my partner stared to see the potential in this dog as family pet we decided to give Scooby his new home and was praying he would settle down as we had him on weeks trial by the end of that week you would have had to fight my partner to take him back he became an instant member of the family and we believe that our old dog must have paid him a visit because now he is identical in mannerisms and the things he does are so much like my Toby who I had for 14 yrs now Scooby follows me everywhere just like my Toby and wakes me up kisses my nose exactly like Toby and his only difference is that once he is up everybody is up.

Thank you so much for giving me and my partner another best friend to take the place of my lost one.

Harry and Kath - Fosterers

Our names are Harry and Kath. We have been fostering for the past 4 to 5 years and have enjoyed it all the time. We have had our ups and downs with dogs that have been abused, but we have turned them round and we have had some wonderful dogs. Some have been badly treated to the point of nearly starving to death, and we have managed to pull them round.

This his mia and she was wonderful with us. It took 5 weeks to get her back to normal. Just look at her when we got her.

But look at her now...

And that's the satisfactory work we do and we love it . We have had about 30 dogs from the start and all of them have got wonderful homes. We are proud to be helping the Y.R.D.R and I hope it will last forever. We love what we do to help the dogs that get mistreated and abused. Its a wonderful feeling when they go to a new home and we get updates from the new family.

Last summer I contacted Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue by email, as I had seen a lovely dog on their website and wanted to know more, plus give them our details as possible adopters.
Kathy and Sue are the two ladies with whom I 've had contact - both very friendly and informative. I was given details of the people who were fostering Stella and we arranged to visit the following weekend.
It was love at first sight, so immediately afterwards I sent an SMS to Sue, who confirmed that they would actually be able to bring Stella to us on the Monday, if it was convenient for us, as her husband had some business to attend to in Easingwold, thus saving us another trip.
Sue and Mike arrived with Stella very promptly, complete with all her paperwork and a lovely gift of a branded dry dog food and storage container. As far as I can recall Sue made a follow-up call to check Stella was settling in OK, and to her credit, has seemed happy to receive news and photos of her from time to time, even though she must be incredibly busy with YRDR.
I have nothing but praise for all the care and time they give to rehoming unwanted dogs, and would certainly not hesitate to get another dog from them.

My experience in getting a dog from Yorkshire Rose has been a good one. I found them to be very friendly and very professional to deal with.
