Yorkshire Rose comes up trumps again!

On Wednesday 26th September we were contacted by Nichola - one of the Leeds Dog Wardens - pleading with us to help a staffie she had picked up as a stray the day before.  He was underweight, riddled with fleas and had scratched himself bald and raw in several places.  He was also at least 6yrs old and this, with his physical condition, meant that it was highly likely he would get overlooked in kennels and end up being destroyed at the end of the week.
We wanted to help but desperately needed to find someone to foster him for us.  After an appeal on Facebook and by email to over 600 recipients - we were astounded at the offers of help that we received from across the country.
(The power of the internet and cross-posting!!)
Leeds Dog Warden service gave permission for the staffie (now named Gordon) to enjoy the rest of his statutory 7 days in the care of a foster home.
So we collected him yesterday and took him straight to the vets for a thorough check up.  He had seen a vet on Tuesday with Nichola so the fleas had gone and the antibiotics had kicked in!  Our vet was happy that he was making good progress and he was allowed on his way!
Paula and Craig have opened their home to Gordon and we cannot thank them enough.  After having a poo on their lounge carpet he settled quietly into an armchair!!!
Thank you to absolutely everyone that has been involved in any way to enable us to save Gordon.
We will keep you updated on his progress so watch this space!
